Today’s Astronomical Events – October 28th, 2014

The waxing crescent Moon appears close to Mars in the evening sky tonight. Observers in Australia will have the best view, but the pair should be easily visible elsewhere too.

11:12 UT – The waxing crescent Moon is north of Mars. (Mars: 90% illuminated, apparent diameter 5.6”. Sagittarius, evening sky.)

Saturn brightens slightly to magnitude 0.5. (Apparent diameter 15.2”. Libra, evening sky.)
