Today’s Astronomical Events – July 25th, 2015

Just as the crescent Venus is growing slimmer, so are the chances of the planet being seen from North America as it quickly sinks toward the Sun in the evening twilight. The planet now sets about an hour after sunset while those in the United Kingdom have lost their chance for one last glance. Meanwhile, lucky observers in Australia can still enjoy the splendid trio of Venus, Jupiter and the bright star Regulus for a full two hours after sunset.

If you’re lucky enough to still see the planet and have a pair of binoculars, take one last look. Even a pair of 10×50’s should show the crescent while a small telescope will provide an even better view.

  1. Hi, thanks for the update. Just to add that not all is lost for people living in the north, as Venus is still visible during the day and can be easily located with binoculars if you know where to look.
